Abstract
This chapter attempts to serve as a practical guide. It begins with an overview of the challenges of integrating digital humanities (DH) at undergraduate institutions. The Digital Humanities Initiative (DHi) at Hamilton College serves as a case study and a reference for comparison to other undergraduate DH models. Models for DH at liberal arts colleges and four-year institutions are challenged to integrate undergraduate students into DH research and to integrate DH research and methods into courses. Developing the DHi at Hamilton College will be used as a case study with examples and explanations of options and decisions made in developing a DH initiative at a liberal arts college. As a liberal arts college, collaborative research between faculty and students is the primary mission of DHi at Hamilton.
